  • Bill is producing a film called Mr. Smith directed by Josef Rusnak. Rusnak directed and co-wrote The Thirteenth Floor, which was produced last year by Bill's friends at Centropolis (ID4).
  • Bill Pullman along with Susan Sarandon, Claire Danes, Amanda Peet, Jared Harris, Kieran Culkin and Jeff Goldblum star in the indie feature Igby Goes Down for writer-director Burr Steers and Atlantic Streamline. Bill played a character named Jason and is very excited about this project, which came up suddenly for him. Along with a stellar cast, producers involved include Anthony Minghella (The English Patient and The Talented Mr. Ripley) and Sydney Pollack (Random Hearts and Eyes Wide Shut).   • 29 Palms will be shown at the Fantasy Film Festival in Germany in September.

  • The Goat or Who is Sylvia? has just won the Tony Best Play award.  It has also won Best Play awards from the New York Critics Circle, the Outer Critics Circle  and the Drama Desk. Bill has also been nominated for several awards. Plans are for other productions to be slated for London, Russia, Houston,etc.. in the future.  Check out our Goat pages for the latest news and pictures. Bill's and Mercedes' last appearance is on September 1.  They will be replaced by Bill Irwin and Sally Field when it resumes in mid-September.

  • Bill provides the narration for The Road to Reconciliation, a new documentary airing on PBS outlets.  It looks at the human cost of Northern Ireland’s 30 years of violence and also notes the contribution that many victims and survivors made to the peace process.  The documentary will be airing on PBS outlets over the next few months—different days in different cities. It debuted at 7 p.m., Sunday (February 17), on WLIW in New York.

    Bill made his Broadway debut in a new play by Edward Albee called, The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?  Albee, best known for, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? is a three time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for drama. The Goat, is a complex, adult drama dealing with some controversial issues, including societal taboos.  Adjectives like bold, racy, audacious, shocking and outrageous have been used to describe it. As such, it is not recommended for children under 16. 

    Bill plays the lead role of Martin, a successful architect whose life goes terribly wrong when he admits to an affair. The play also stars Mercedes Ruehl and opened March 10th at the Golden Theater.  The play is set to run through June, but please check with the theater before going.  Tickets can be purchased online ($65-$75) or call The Golden Theater at 212-239-6200.

  • Bill has a cameo role in the upcoming, 29 Palms, starring Chris O'Donnell, Rachel Leigh Cook and Michael Rapaport . It's described as a Coen-esque thriller.

  • Bill was honored during the 2001 Western Heritage Awards on April 21,2001 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. He  received a Wrangler award for Outstanding Television Feature Film for 2000 for The Virginian. Three of his fans had a personal encounter with Bill during the Awards Show.  Read all about that night.....

  • Bill and Tamara will be hosting the 27th annual Dinner of Champions for the Southern California Multiple Sclerosis Society on Monday, September 10, 2001 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, Ca. The Pullmans will be hosting along with Deluxe Laboratories, Entertainment Industry Foundation, Peter and Bobby Farrelly and Twentieth Century Fox. Bill's good friend, Tom Sherak, is the dinner chair. Donations may be made to:

  • On Monday, October 1, 2001, Cornerstone Theater Company will present the 2nd Annual Bridge Awards and a benefit musical celebration, Swingin' Sixteen. The event will be held at the historic Derby Bar and Swing Club in Los Feliz from 6:30pm - 10:00pm, and will include a host bar, hors d'oeuves, the performance and awards presentation, and ending with swing dancing into the evening. Three lucky ladies were able to meet Bill there last year.

  • On Friday, October 5,2001, Alfred University will be hosting Bill near his hometown of Hornell.  We'll post more details as we get them!

  • Bill Pullman hosted the nominations for the 16th annual IFP/West Independent Spirit Awards on January 10th at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. He also served as part of an 11 person nominating committee. The awards ceremony will take place on March 24th in Santa Monica and will air live on the IFC at 5:00pm Eastern Time. It will also be cybercast live on the IFC website (www.ifctv.com). The event will be broadcast again at 10:00 pm on Bravo.

  • Ooh-la-la, Bill was a member of the Film Jury for The 2001 Gérardme Fantastic' Arts Film
    Festival in France. The Festival ran from January 24-28.

  • Bill participated in the 15 Snapshots of 15 Years--1st Annual Bridge Awards for Cornerstone Theater, Monday, October 16, 2000, at the El Portal Center for the Arts in North Hollywood. The evening's proceeds benefited Cornerstone Theater Company's community collaborative programs and productions. Three members of the billpullman.org were among the guests and managed to meet Bill himself. Check out the pictures from that magical night.

  • There's a mention of Bill in a Washington Post article on a permanent exhibit at the National Museum of American History. "This is also the gallery where you'll find the flight suit worn by Bill Pullman as President-cum-fighter pilot Thomas J. Whitmore in the 1996 film, Independence Day. Apparently, Americans don't just want a head of government who can balance the budget, negotiate peace in the Middle East and show up at funerals of foreign dignitaries, but one who is also able to kick some serious alien butt."

  • Bill appeared in Lucky Numbers (formerly just Numbers, a comedy about a bankrupt weatherman (John Travolta) who's trying to rig the Pennsylvania State Lottery. Directed by Nora Ephron (Sleepless in Seattle), and also starring Lisa Kudrow, Numbers is scheduled to be released October 27, 2000.  Visit the movie website to view the trailer at www.luckynumbersmovie.com

  • Titan A.E. is Bill's first foray into animation where he plays Joe Korso, leader of a band of renegades. Look for the video to released November 7, 2000. If you can't wait, check out our Titan Page.

  • Trailers for Spy Games and The Guilty are available for viewing on the J&M Entertainment site. Bill goes skinny-dipping in one. Don't hurt yourself scrambling to the site.

  • Hope all of you watched Bill Pullman on Entertainment Tonight and as co-host, along with Hugh Downs, on a Fox special called "Opening the Tombs of the Golden Mummies:Live! ". The 2 hour Fox special aired on Tuesday (5/23) at 8 PM Eastern/7:00 PM Central. Bill also found time (& energy) to chat about his experiences on Yahoo.   • Check out the soundtrack from the Wild Colonials, Reel Volume #1 on Chromatic Records website. It's got songs from 2 of Bill's movies - Mr. Wrong and Brokedown Palace (title track).

  • Titan A.E. (formerly Planet Ice) is Bill's first foray into animation where he will play Joe Korso, leader of a band of renegades.  Look for it to open on June 16,2000. If you can't wait until then, you can check out the official Titan A.E. site or our Titan site where we have a movie clip!
  • Bill was a presenter at the Independent Spirits Awards along with Alfre Woodard. He was also spotted at the Oscars along with his wife, Tamara. Visit Hall of Bill to see the pictures.

  • Bill has thrown in his support for Dennis Weaver's Institute of Ecolonomics. The Institute supports the growing of industrial hemp, for clothing, food, etc.. In case you think Bill is now a pothead, relax, industrial hemp is NOT related to marijuana. Dennis, of course, was in The Virginian. (11/4/99 Boston Globe)

  • According to IMDB, Bill has signed on for a movie called Cadillac Tramps. It reportedly costars Tom Waits (Cold Feet) and Harry Dean Stanton.

  • According to Entertainment Weekly (#254), Lake Placid tops the rental charts in it's second week, outgrossing even the newly released to video, Bowfinger. The article goes on to say that this may be a new camp classic.

  • We have all heard that certain people who should know better have problems distinguishing between Bill Pullman and Bill Paxton. Can you imagine?   • The Virginian, in which Bill directed, produced and starred in, will start airing on January 9,2000. Please visit the TNT Virginian site for the various air dates and times so you can get your VCRs ready. Trailers and a behind the scenes spots are also being shown now.

  • The Lake Placid video is now available for sale in the US & Canada. The Brokedown Palace video is now available in the US. Also saw that Independence Day will finally become available on DVD format starting in June. Of course, all these titles are now available for pre-order over the 'net.

  • According to the Hollywood Reporter, the indie feature A Man Is Mostly Water, written and directed by Fred Parnes, will star Bill Pullman. It's a romantic buddy comedy about three couples in danger of breaking up. Each pair must resolve their issues in order to keep the unions together. FYI, Fred Parnes had a small role in Zero Effect.
  • History is Made at Night premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, September 10 and again on Sunday.  Good news as J&M Entertainment says it is close to securing US distribution for this film with Trimark. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we can see this movie soon! Our friends in Helsinki get to see it starting October 22,1999.
  • Seems like The Phantom Menace is having a positive effect on older movies. According to VidTrac, Spaceballs rentals jumped 73 percent after The Phantom Menace opened. Bill Pullman was quoted as saying "Really, Spaceballs rentals are going up?  Star Wars is doing that? That's what I call the Force."
  • (Unconfirmed) rumors are swirling all over the Internet about a possible Independence Day sequel.  Looks like the previous creators -- Emmerich and Devlin -- and Fox are no longer feuding with each other. Let's hope this rumor's true!

    • Bill is slated to appear on not one, but three talk shows in January - 1/5 (Wed.) on Letterman, 1/6 (Thurs.) Regis and Kathie Lee and 1/7 (Fri.) on Conan O'Brien. He was also spotted on the Today show (1/6). Check out pictures (hot off Ildi's computer) on talk show appearances page.

    • Bill made an appearance on the Donny and Marie show on 9/21/99.
    • Bill presented at the American Cinematique Salute to Jodie Foster on 10/17/99 on TNT.  Many shots of our Bill there!
