"Spaceballs" Reviews

This movie is really funny, in a weird sort of way.

It is about a guy named Lonestar (Bill Pullman) who saves this Princess of planet Druidia.

Of all the roles Bill Pullman played (it is the weirdest!) this is one of the few where Bill actually got the girl! dlrs :
"Spaceballs" played on TBS recently and I taped it, mostly because it was a Bill Pullman movie I hadn't seen yet, and secondly, because my oldest child is a Star Wars fanatic. As a child of the Star Wars/Star Trek era, I howled throughout the first playing of this movie. My kid didn't get any of the SW parody, but I sure did. Some of it was kinda stupid, but some of it was pretty darn brilliant. Bill was great in the Han Solo/Luke Skywalker role. He was dashing, debonair, and appropriately wacky. I mean, this is Mel Brook's after all. I still watch it for Bill, but the movie is losing its initial charm. My kid tends to watch movies to death, so I'm subjected to them as well. Even though this isn't the best parody or even the best Mel Brook's movie, I'm still watching it. Great for a good laugh when you need one. Alice Zemaitis (azemaiti@staff.uiuc.edu):
I enjoyed Spaceballs. I, too, was a kid when Star Wars hit the movie theaters, and I saw it at least five times. I could appreciate all of the humor in this movie, and I also enjoy Mel Brook's sense of humor as well. This movie is a great goofy, slapstick comedy that is just jam-packed with great one-liners. Melanie Bivin (gjbivin@indirect):
I am a big fan of Bill Pullman! I am also a fan of Star Wars and when I saw this movie a long time ago I just died laughing. It became even better when I found out that my favorite new male star was in it! Bill Pullman of course. I had seen Spaceballs before Bill Pullman became famous. This movie has a lot of inside jokes from different movies and books. It was great and I wouldn't mind watching it again and again. Wonderful! Samantha Lane (cfryer@ix.netcom.com) :
Lonestar was a great character, very very good movie. Bill wouldn't have been able to pull this one off AFTER ID4 though, it would have been tacky. Thank goodness he did this at the beginning of his career, though I don't think he gets nearly enough credit for this movie as he deserves. Susan :
As usual, Mel Brooks can be very funny and also very stupid. This film has elements of both, leaning toward the stupid. It's not as good as Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein or High Anxiety. But if you've seen Star Wars, it does have several very funny moments. Becky McDonald :
I must be the biggest fan of Bill Pullman EVER!!! I totally love him in everything he does. But I have to admit, this was one of his best movies. Out of all the movies he has done this has to be his funniest. Anonymous:
Very very very very funny. Bill Pullman is so cute!!!!!!!!!! Anne-Louise Wilkins (danelaw@powerup.com.au):
This was definitely a funny movie and Bill Pullman was fantastic. A great movie if you need a good laugh, I only saw it recently and Bill finally got that gal. Simon :
This is a great Pullman movie. Being that Mel Brooks did it, it had to be funny. It was not quite as funny as Robin Hood: Men in Tights, but it was one of the best Bill Pullman films I have seen. (Next to ID4) Felicia Scott (fscott@mail.milsen.vic.edu.au):
This movie is pretty cool. Only coz BILL PULLMAN is in it. (it is also good in other senses). He looks pretty cute when he was younger (but he still does look cute). It's an ace movie. Lisa Alop (alop@u.arizona.edu):
The first time I saw this movie I had no idea who Bill Pullman was and had never seen Star Wars. It was a Jewish movie. About 5 years later I discovered Bill Pullman in Newsies and realized he was Lone Star, plus I'd seen Star Wars and understood the movie much better. But I still watch the movie mainly to see Bill's face shining on screen. K. (stdksh15@shsu.edu) :
I love it. You will if you know anything about Star Wars and parodies by Mel Brooks. I love Pullman. He's so funny and so boyishly cute at the same time. I saw him in Ruthless People and Sibling Rivalry but never really noticed how cute he is until While You Were Sleeping, which incidentally just got through playing on Showtime. Buy this movie, buy that movie and watch them both....Daphne Zuniga was good in Spaceballs but Pullman was the best. Sara :
I saw Spaceballs shortly after I saw WYWS. I really didn't realize that Lone Starr was Bill until I was about a half of an hour into it! If you want to get a good opportunity to oggle at Bill -this is your movie. The jokes in it are not always in good taste, but overall, it is pretty entertaining. It gives a good parody of sci-fi flicks, and has lots of "hidden" jokes to keep it moving along. Bill did do an excellent job in this, and remains as cute as ever. Lauren:
I give this movie 5 star's because it was sooooooooooooooo funny man. Bill Pullman played the hero (Lonestar) I think it would be cool if they made "SPACEBALLS 2", but it would be hard to do because John Candy is dead, Bill Pullman wouldn't do the movie again and it's probebly too late to re-do it anyway. In conclusion I just want to say that ********** SPACEBALLS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME ***************** Anonymous:
Have never been really fond of Mel Brooks comedy but appreciate that he cast Bill Pullman as Lone Star. The movie would have been basically slosh without him. He carried it beautifully. Love that guy!!! Danielle (tarullo@cfw.com) :
I love Spaceballs I watched this movie to death when I was a kid. Now that I've seen Star Wars I get more of the jokes. BILL PULLMAN is a god! He is soooo handsome. With ultra sexy eyes and voice and body and hair. Watching him as Lonestar in Spaceballs when I was 8 began my never ending Crush. It is the best movie. May the schwartz be with you. Sauce Palmer (elieoran@gte.net) :
How could anyone be funnier than Bill when he meets 'Darth Vader' and says. "At last we meet for the first time for the last time and then mimics himself, questioningly. Superb facial expressions. Funny Funny Funny!!!!! Love you Bill, and thanks much for the autographed photo. But why did you sign, 'Thanks for THE support?" Why not YOUR support? Just joking!! LOVE and BYE! Anonymous :
This Movie is da bomb!!! Mel Brooks is the best comedy dirctor o f all time! Bill Pullman is HOT! I own Spaceballs and I watch it at least twice every day.(Seriously!) Somebody has got to get Bill Pullman some more roles. I NEED to see his gorgeous face in more films!!! Jen:
