This is a terrific film. The scene between him and Hurt after Rose has left Julian to live
with the brothers again, is priceless. Bill's face expressed a wide range of emotions and
understanding in this scene that is out of this world. The part, though small, is a true
gem. Rent this one next time you're at the video store, or like me, the public library.
You'll be glad you did.

William Hurt stars in this movie as Macon, a man who writes books about how to make
traveling easier for business people. Bill Pullman stars as Julian, his editor/publisher.
Julian stops by a depressed Macon's house to find out why he has not received new material
from the writer for quite a while and ends up falling for Macon's sister Rose. The movie
has a worthwhile storyline but it is a very sedate, slow moving movie. Most of the
characters in the movie are depressed for one reason or another and you find yourself
feeling the same way. You've got to be in the right mood to watch this one! This movie
also stars Geena Davis.

A well acted, quirky drama. I liked the movie better than the book!

William Hurt did not come about as depressed...He was seriously d-e-a-d!!! Uninspired and
bland performance. Geena Davis leaves much to be desired..too, too wild and
unbelievable...or am I in the wrong generation? The siblings were well cast and played.
Rose was believeably frustrating...Bill's 'Julian' was, perfect. One wants to hug and take
him away from that kooky group. Love that actor. A rare gent and gem....and a vital ACTOR
in films today. Others define acting by swearing, bed activity, and a willingness to
disrobe for the public. Who cares??? Had to give the film one star only because Pullman is
in it.
